Rural Funding
Over one-third of NNA's membership serves rural communities. Our rural members rely on USDA funding sources as well as HUD funding.
The Administration's request for FY 2012 has significantly cut funding for two key programs: Section 502 Direct and Section 523 Self-Help Grants.
FY 2011 Final Funding Levels
Section 502 Direct Loan: $1.121 billion, .21% decrease from FY 2010
Section 523 Self-Help:
$37 million, 12% decrease from FY 2010
FY 2012 Proposed (Administration) Funding Levels
Section 502 Direct Loan: $211 million, 81% decrease from FY 2011
Section 523 Self-Help:
$0, 100% decrease from FY 2011
These programs provide critical resources to rural communities. NNA will work with our membership and our partners, like the National Rural Housing Coalition to push for restored funding for these and other critical rural funding programs.
