HOME and CDBG Funding
Given the cuts HOME and CDBG took in the final FY 2011 spending bill, NNA is placing a higher advocacy priority for these funding items for the FY 2012. NNA will be working with our membership and our national partners on HOME and CDBG advocacy efforts.
FY 2011 Final Funding Levels
HOME: $1.61 billion, 12% decrease from FY 2010
CDBG:
$3.5 billion, 21% decrease from FY 2010
FY 2012 Proposed (Administration) Funding Levels
HOME: $1.65 billion
CDBG:
$3.8 billion
Both of these programs are widely used by our membership for a variety of rental and homeownership uses. In partnership with PLACE (Practitioners Leveraging Assets for Community Enhancement), a new entity that represents housing and community development practitioners, a working paper has been developed that outlines the need for HOME and CDBG advocacy. This working paper, along with regular input from the NNA membership, will guide NNA's advocacy efforts on HOME and CDBG.

Additionally, NNA is one of forty-one organizations to sign a HOME sign-on letter that will be forwarded to all members of the House Financial Services and Senate Banking Committees, and to all members of the House and Senate T-HUD Appropriations Subcommittees.

During the week of May 27th, Senator Patrick Leahy (D-VT) circulated a Dear Colleague letter in support of CDBG funding. The letter received 26 signatures.
